Jowar (sorghum) is a fibre rich millet that belongs to the grass family of poaceae, it is cultivated across the tropical and sub-tropical regions of the world. It is a millet that is energy boosting as it has anti-oxidant phyto-chemicals, has calcium and iron that fortify the bone and strengthen immunity and high dietary fibre that regulates blood sugar levels. Jowar is the fifth most important cereal crop grown in the world and many countries are substituting it for livestock instead of corn as it is a healthier option (we have seen it also being preferred by the livestock).

As per Ayurveda food without gluten protein is called gluten free which implies that it is easy and light to digest. As jowar is gluten free, it can be eaten by people who are sensitive to gluten.
Svaguna’s jowar is cultivated naturally as an intercrop during the rains on our natural food forest, Vivavan at Amarwara in Madhya Pradesh in central India where jowar is abundantly grown as the climatic conditions are best suited for its cultivation.
