Saunf (Fennel)

Fennel is native to Mediterranean (Southern Europe) but has become widely naturalized extensively all over Europe, Middle East, China, India.   Fennel spice is amongst the most sought after ingredient in many cuisines all over the Mediterrian region.  Fennel is known as foeniculum vulgare that is flavourful culinary herb and medicinal plant.  It is a flowering plant species in the parsley or carrot family that is low in calories but high in nutrients like dietary fibre, potassium and vitamin C.   It is known for its medicinal uses and can be used as a remedy for flatulence, indigestion, etc.
