Natural Foxnuts (Makhana)

Makhana (foxnut) comes from plant called Euryale fox which grows in stagnant water of wetlands or ponds in Eastern Asia. Euryale is a perennial plant native to eastern Asia and is found in Bihar & Manipur to Korea, Japan and some parts of East Russia. It is an aquatic dry fruit that is cultivated mostly in north east Bihar and is also called God’s Food and is completely free from any harmful chemicals. It has been used in Chinese medicine since 3000 years and finds an important place in science of Ayurveda.

Benefits of Foxnuts(Makhana)

•  It is a good source of calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc.
•  High in protein content that aids absorption of calcium and reduces problems related to arthritis and osteoporosis as it helps maintain calcium levels.

Our makhana come from Madhubani in the state of Bihar where they are naturally produced aiding in giving employment to locals of the district. We recommend one uses the raw form and roasts them by self as it is best form to have instead of purchasing the processed varieties available in the market.
