Chironji (Charoli or Almondette)

Chironji (Almondette) is native to Indian subcontinent and grows in North Western parts of the country in harsh climatic conditions and it is in grown largely in dry deciduous forests of central and western India, especially in the forests of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The biological name of Chironji is BuchananiaLanzan that is almond flavoured and really tasty when eaten roasted or toasted. It is grown naturally in the forests, hence is a natural product that is chemical or pesticide free. It is natural to the Indian environment and is harvested during the summer season and is probably the only nut that is a body coolant and best to be had in scorching Indian summer. As per Ayurveda it is healthier alternative to almonds and cashews as it is rich in oil content. It is used in Indian sweet and savoury dishes and can be consumed as a snack nut as well. Most of the chironji is exported as it is rich in oil content, hence even being an Indian produce it is rarely available in India.

•  Excess usage can cause constipation and frequent urinating during the nights.
