Toor dal is the most consumed lentil across the country and research says it was cultivated around 3500 years ago in Karnataka and surrounding states of India. Today toor is grown across all tropical and semi tropical regions of the world, India being amongst the largest producer of the lentil.
Toor is spilt to convert it to dal as we don’t use any polishing agents to convert the dal but do it naturally to retain its flavour, taste and nutrients. Svaguna’s toor dal is free of pesticides, insecticides, chemicals, fertilizers, etc as it grown in the monsoon season in abundance on our food forest situated in Amarwara, Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh.
